MONTGOMERY, NY (February 15, 2022)—Winding Hills Golf Club and The Venue at Winding Hills welcomes John J. Bond as its new Executive Chef.
Chef Bond has more than 30 years of fine dining, resort, and catering experience. In his new role at Winding Hills, Chef Bond is overseeing all culinary operations for the restaurant. He has created an exciting menu for both regulars and visitors of The Venue, as well as showcasing his special event vision by preparing a variety of menus for weddings and group events.
“We are excited to welcome Chef Bond and his extensive culinary talents to the Winding Hills family,” says Chris Ogden, owner of Winding Hills Golf. “Chef Bond is a spirited professional and talented chef. We are looking forward to bringing a new culinary mindset to the Club, as well as the highest level of service for our members and guests.”
After beginning his culinary career in Sweden, Chef Bond moved back to the Hudson Valley where he worked at The Bulls Head Inn alongside chefs Carla and Fred Whittle. After the Bulls Head Inn, he became Chef De Cuisine at the Historic Bear Mountain Inn. A few years later he opened his own restaurant, CALO52, before moving to Florida to oversee the kitchen for the luxury suites for the Miami Dolphins and Florida Marlins—catering to movie stars, professional athletes, and music industry professionals. From there, Chef Bond worked as Sous Chef at STK in South Beach under celebrity Chef Ralph Pagano.
His culinary journey brought him back north, where he served as Executive Chef for The Paige Management Group’s flagship restaurant, The Fulton in New York City. He most recently served as executive chef at Hilton Corporation in the Hudson Valley.

Not everyone can tee up their Titleist and drive it straight down the fairway on a consistent basis. And not every golfer can pitch from a dreaded sand trap onto the green with any degree of acquired skill. In fact, the majority of people who enjoy playing a round of golf every now and then refer to themselves as “hackers.”
You know who you are. You fudge a little on your score, and you move your ball to a better lie when no one is looking. You top the ball too many times, and you may or may not have golf shoes and gloves. In fact, you may not even have a driver. If you do, you rarely – if ever – use it. You freely take mulligans and gimmes, and you care more about the beer being cold than the green being manicured. All in all, you’re out for a good time with your friends and no triple bogey will dampen your fun.
Every now and then you may opt for a regulation-sized golf course of 5,200 or more yards with a par of 72. However, more often than not you prefer a nine-hole par three or executive course that is more suited to your style of play. Here are some of the country’s most enjoyable courses for casual golfers.
